B. Tap on the top of the radiator cap three times, apply a cloth over the cap, and remove the cap quickly.

C. Both 1 and 2 above will work.

D. Never remove the radiator cap.

Answer:

Option D: Never remove the radiator cap.

When the car engine is hot, especially during a situation where the engine is overheating, NEVER REMOVE THE RADIATOR CAP.

This is because the water in the radiator is now at a very high temperature and pressure. Once the cap is slightly twisted, this high-pressure water can violently erupt through the radiator cap spewing hot water on the face of the persons closest to it.

The best practice is to allow the car engine to cool down before the radiator is opened.
